Introduction

What is jSkone?

jSkone is a score keeping application for BQF style Bible quizzing. Here are a few of the features:

  • Scores are entered to the database as they happen (a quiz is not lost if a score keeper forgets to save)
  • Most of a quiz's history can be edited
  • Multiple databases are supported
  • It is free for anyone doing Bible quizzing (e.g. A league, a coach keeping their stats, etc.)

What does jSkone need to run?

  • PostgreSQL at least version 8.1 (www.posgresql.org)

jSkone uses PostgreSQL, a database server, for storing all of the scores. For a league or tournament, it is definitely recommended to run this on a stand alone computer. It is OK to run the database on the same computer you will be score keeping from if it the only computer going to be used as a score keeper (e.g. a coach keeping score for their stats).

  • JRE 5.0 (1.5) or newer (www.java.com/getjava)
  • You can read specifics of how to use jSkone in the Documentation. If you want to download it, just go to the Dowload section

Mirror of God's Mountain Website

Due to the recent compromise of the God's Mountain website (at godsmountain dot net), I have decided to unofficially put the most recent and relevant information on this site so that people can access it. God's Mountain is a Bible based youth camp located in Rushville, Missouri, but rather than explain all of that myself, you can find out more about God's Mountain through these pages that were copied from their website.

jSkone Admin 2009 Updated

The 2009 version of the admin had a rounding error for quizzer averages. It has been updated and should work correctly. You can get the updated version from the download page as usual.

jSKone 2009 Available

jSKone 2009 has been released. A lot of new features have been added to the Admin, and a few to the Client. You can get them in Downloads.
Note that only the individual applications have been updated. New users should download the jSKone 2008 Collection in order to get the documentation and database scripts. Then download the updated versions of the Client and Admin.
Enjoy this version (even though it's a little late)!

jSKone 2008.1 Released

jSKone 2008.1 has been officially released. That means that it should be pretty stable.
The following bugs were fixed:

  • Score keeper application did not use the bonus start setting. The Admin was unaffected.
  • Refreshing a report in the Admin would only refresh the quizzers, not the report data (resulting in zeros in the report).

As with the beta, the only included documentation is for the new features. If you want the full manual, you can read it online (and then save it, if you want).

Go to the Downloads to get the whole package.

jSKone '08 Betas

jSKone '08 is available for beta testing. It's database format is compatible with the older versions. This version hasn't been extensively tested, so it might have some things left that need to be fixed. Please give feedback on any bugs that you find. You can download jSKone '08 Beta with the link below. The package has the scorekeeper, the admin, the database creation scripts, and documentation about the new features only (Sorry for the non-descriptive file name!). (You can access the old docs here).

Admin Rounding Error Fixed

The 2.0 Admin does not round in the quizzer average calculation. This JAR fixes the bug. To install this, download http://www.jskone.org/files/skAdmin_07c.jar and copy it into the existing admin folder. Make sure you run the new one (skAdmin_07c.jar) The only thing i tested on this build is the quizzer average. I may have messed up something else, so it is a good idea to keep the old admin JAR as well.

jSKone 2.0 Released

jSKone 2.0 has been released and uploaded!
Among the new features:

  • New configuration system. All of the quiz parameters (i.e. number of seats, number of error for an error out, etc.) are centrally configurable in the Admin program.
  • Automatic screen shots can be taken whenever the status of a quiz changes
  • You can add quizzers directly to a team
  • Teams and quizzers have both rank and place

You can go to the Downloads to download it.
